PURPOSE:To save useless line charge and utility charge of a host of a communication opposite party by interrupting automatically a communication line when a fault is detected by a fault detection means during execution of an automatic communication protocol. CONSTITUTION:After the automatic communication function is selected by the operator, a document processing unit 0 commands the connection to a communication opposite party to a MODEM 9 with NCU. In this case, the control procedure is executed by an MPU 1 and a work area and an error information area of a RAM 2 are cleared. The execution processing of the communication protocol is executed by the program of the communication protocol and error analysis processing is implemented. Then the MPU 1 checks whether or not error information stored in the work area of the RAM 2 is bit 0 and it is discriminated that an error takes place when the error information is other than bit 0 and the MPU 1 interrupts the communication line according to a line interrupt processing program. |
