PURPOSE:To enlarge a junction short-circuiting part in area so as to enable a solar cell to be lessened in power loss and improved in reliability by a method wherein a bypass diode is provided under the wide root part of a comb-shaped surface electrode. CONSTITUTION:The photoelectric conversion part of a solar cell is covered with a transparent anti-reflection film 66, a comb-shaped electrode 67 whose root is formed wide is provided to the underside of the conversion part, and the other required parts are covered with an oxide film 65. An N<+>-type diffusion layer 62 and an N-type diffusion region 63 are provided onto the surface of a P-type substrate 61 located below, and a P-type diffusion layer 64 is formed on a part of the N-type diffusion region 63. Junction short-circuiting parts 80 which make a short circuit between the N-type diffusion region 63 and the surface of the P-type diffusion layer 64 are provided penetrating the oxide film 65 at a part sandwiched between the comb-shaped part 67-2 of the surface electrode 67 close to the surface of a bypass PN junction composed of the N-type diffusion region 63 and the P-type diffusion layer 64. Therefore, a junction short-circuiting part is enlarged in area and lessened in resistance, so that a solar cell of this design can be lessened in power loss and heat release value and improved in reliability. |
