PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording material excellent in printing speed and made markedly excellent in color forming sensitivity by using a specific 4-mercaptophenol compound in order to obtain a developer excellent color forming sensitivity, generating no color shading or color reversion and not erased upon the contact with a plasticizer and an oil component. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material provided with a thermal color forming layer containing a usually colorless or light-colored color forming substance and a developer allowing the color forming substance to form a color at the time of heating is characterized in that a 4-mercaptophenol derivative represented by formula 1 is contained as the developer. In the formula I, R1 and R2 are respectively a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxyl group, an alkyl group or an aryl group, R3 is a group -O-R4-O- or a group -CH2-O-C(R5, R6) or a group -O-CH2, R4 is an alkylene group which may have a substituent and R5 and R6 are respectively a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group. |
