PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration in an optical fiber itself from occurrence by providing a positioning means for guiding a plastic fiber to a predetermined position, a driving means for running it in the axial direction, a cutting means which is brought into contact with the periphery of the plastic fiber and a cutting oil supply means for supplying a cutting oil. CONSTITUTION:A guide 12 having a V groove 14 is fixed on a table 16 fro positioning a plastic fiber 10 inserted from an inlet 42 and for guiding it. A rotary roller 26 is attached to a rotation shaft 28, in the neighborhood of a rotary tool 22, for driving and running the plastic fiber 10 interposed between it and a pinch roller 30. A water soluble cutting oil is supplied to a cutting oil supply hose 38 to be poured to a place where the rotary tool 22 is in contact with the plastic fiber 10 so that frictional heat at cutting is cooled and plastic powder generated by cutting is washed away. |
