<p>Main body contains a chamber, and an outlet from the latter leads to the atmosphere, by which means yarn fed to the outlet emerges. The outlet has a convergent entrance starting from the chamber, a throst and a divergent outlet. Provision is made for a nipple extending through the chamber, the nipple being provided with a duct running in longitudinal direction, wherein the yarn fed to the channel moves towards the outlet. The channel, starting from a greater cross-sectional area connected to the atmosphere at the outer end of the nipple narrows to a smaller cross-sectional area at the inner end of the nipple, the inner end ending in the convergent entrance of the outlet. Means are provided for feeding fluid to the chamber for the purpose of treating the yarn, whereby the fluid is under sufficiently high pressure in the chamber for the fluid to leave the chamber both through the outlet as well as by the duct in the nipple. As a result of this arrangement an almost break free air jet nozzle is provided which thickens yarn at high linear speeds without excessive abrasion of the yarn and without stripping off yarn fibres which otherwise form fluffy rings on the yarn fed in.</p> |
