PURPOSE:To obtain a photographing apparatus having the same operability for a left-handed user as that for a right-handed user by reversing the scanning direction of a photoelectric converting means when the photoelectric converting means is held by taking the upside down. CONSTITUTION:An image pickup lens 12 is built in the front section of a camera main body 11 and an object image is formed on an image pickup element 13 arranged at the rear part of the image pickup lens 12. Further, a cathode ray tube 14 for view finder is built in the rear part of the camera main body 11. Moreover, the inside of the camera main body is provided with a detecting element 25 for detecting upward/downward direction, and when the camera main body 11 is placed by taking the upside down, the detecting element 25 activates a manual operation circuit 29 so as to allow a scanning direction converting circuit 30 to convert the scanning direction of the cathode ray tube 14 upside down. Since the image pickup is conducted by using the camera main body for upside down, a left-handed user can operate the camera simply the same as a right-handed user. |
