PURPOSE:To obtain the subject synthetic fiber having excellent fiber dispersibility, interfacial adhesivity, reinforcing effect, etc., by applying a specific amount of a water-soluble hydrophilic collecting agent to an acrylic synthetic fiber and cutting the fiber in such a manner as to get a fiber bundle flatness of higher than a specific level. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble hydrophilic collecting agent (e.g. modified cellulose) having a viscosity of 50-750cps (as a 2wt.% aqueous solution at 20 deg.C) is applied to an acrylic synthetic fiber in an amount of 0.3-1.8wt.% and the treated fiber is cut in such a manner as to get a fiber bundle flatness of >=5 to obtain the objective acrylic synthetic fiber. The fiber bundle flatness is defined as the ratio of (cut length of single fiber)/(maximum width of fiber bundle) of a fiber bundle having the maximum width of >=0.1mm. The obtained acrylic synthetic fiber can be used as a reinforcing fiber in dry building material use such as cement slate plate and wet building material use such as light-weight mortar. |
