PURPOSE:To generate a correct character pattern when the contour of a character is generated and its inside is painted out by providing a direction detecting means which finds the sign of the displacement between a precedent vector and a current vector to be drawn, a drawing permission detecting means, and a memory write controller. CONSTITUTION:A dot writing permission detector 7 decides whether or not a current dot to be drawn is a one-dot pointed end or the intermediate point of a character contour in a painting-out direction by using a current-dot direction holding signal 16 and a precedent-dot direction holding signal 17 outputted by a current-dot direction holding register 5 and a precedent-dot direction holding signal 17 respectively, and outputs a write permission signal 18 when the current dot to be drawn is neither of them. A memory write controller 8 inputs the displacement quantity 13 of the current dot to be drawn outputted by a straight line generator 3 and the write permission signal 18 outputted by the dot write permission detector 7 and prevents the dot from being written on a memory. Consequently, a wrong character pattern is prevented from being generated owing to the painting out of the inside of the contour. |
