PURPOSE:To increase the brightness of an image when the image is expansively projected by feeding the light to a polarization beam splitter from the perpendicular direction to the optical axis, and synthesizing and projecting the P polarization wave and S polarization wave on a screen. CONSTITUTION:The light is projected from one side of liquid crystal display elements 7-9 displayed with an image to be projected, the transmission light from the liquid crystal display elements 7-9 is radiated on a screen via a transmission lens section, and the image to be projected is expansively projected on the screen. This action is likewise performed on the first main body 2P and the second main body 2S. The outgoing light from the first main body 2P is P polarization wave, the outgoing light from the second main body 2S is the S polarization wave, the P polarization wave and the S polarization wave are synthesized by a polarization beam splitter 17 and radiated on the screen via a projection lens section 18. The quantity of the light radiated on the screen can be increased, and the brightness of the display image on the screen can be increased, and the brightness of the display image on the screen can be increased. |
