发明名称 METALLIC-VAPOR LASER DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To increase the output of the title laser device and, at the same time, to extend the service life of the laser tube of the device by connecting laser tube units in series in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:Discharges repeatedly occur whenever a thyratron 43 is repeatedly conducted, since the electric charges of a charged capacitor 40 charged to a voltage which is twice as high as that of a high-voltage DC power source are supplied into a laser tube 12 through a high-voltage electrode 20 and earth electrodes 21A and 21B. When the temperature of ceramic tubes 17A and 17B surrounded by heat insulating materials 18A and 18B rises, metallic pieces 22 melt and metallic vapor is produced. When copper is used for the metallic pieces 22, the copper is excited by electrons in discharge plasma and an inverted distribution is produced, resulting in laser oscillation. Since the temperature of both ceramic tubes 17A and 17B become high due to discharges between the high-voltage electrode 20 and earth electrodes 21A and 21B and both laser tube units 12A and 12B are joined to each other, the length of the high- temperature area of the ceramic tubes 17A and 17B can be doubled as compared with the conventional examples and the laser output is sharply increased.
