PURPOSE: To provide a novel photointiator capable of increasing film speed by using a specific borate anion complex capable of generating free radical by absorbing radiation having ultraviolet ray action. CONSTITUTION: The basic borate anion complex expressed by formula I is used as the photoinitiator. In the formula, D<+> expresses a cationic dyestuff, R<1> expresses benzyl group or a substituted benzyl group, each of R<2> , R<3> and R<4> expresses an aryl group or a substituted aryl group. The cationic dyestuff- borate anion complex is used in the ratio of <=1wt.% per a photopolymerizing material or a photocross-linking material in the photosetting composition. Since the complex is used alone as a photoinitiator but can not enable to increase the film speed, an auto-oxidizing agent, particularly N,N-dialkyl aniline is preferably jointly used.
