PURPOSE:To avoid nonconformity in the work of replacing a control PCB by providing means for detecting whether or not a storage means is mounted in an image forming apparatus, and means for displaying in a display portion an indication that the storage means is not yet mounted in the apparatus. CONSTITUTION:When a nonvolatile memory 2 serving as a storage means is not yet mounted in control PCB, the detecting means of a control portion displays an indication of it in a display portion so as to inform an operator of the error state. For example, when a CPU 4 writes data on the nonvolatile memory 2, data 'FFH' is to be written in data 'OOH' and so when no data is written the CPU 4 reads and judges data as 'OOH'. If the memory 2 is not mounted in the control PCB, the read value of the CPU 4 indicates data 'FFH'. When data is read as 'FFH', the display portion displays an indication that the memory 2 is not yet mounted in the control PCB and further informs a person in charge of service or an operator of the error state and so nonconformity in the work of replacing the control PCB can be avoided. |
