PURPOSE:To obtain a thick, rolled, high strength polymer sheet by a method wherein a plurality of polymer films or sheets, each of which is uniaxially stretched by rolling and which are brought into a condition being interposed by adhesive film layer, are heated in a heating furnace and, after that, compressed and cooled with presses having respectively tolls, in each of which cooling device is provided. CONSTITUTION:Uniaxially stretched films 9, each of which is cut in a predetermined length, are stacked in advance to one another under a condition that the drawing directions of the films are set in a same direction or in the alternate direction with one another through adhesive film 10. next, the stacked films are inserted in a heating furnace. During the heating of the stacked films in the heating furnace, light compressive force is applied vertically with an aluminum plate being mounted on the stacked films so as to restrict the films in order to prevent the films from shrinking thermally. When the stacked films reach the temperature, which is higher than the melting point of the adhesive film layer and lower than the melting point of the matrix of the film, the stacked films are extracted from the furnace and pinched between the faces of tools 12 of presses 11 so as to be fixed by pressure. Immediately after compression, the cooling of the material or the films is performed by running cooling water in the interior of a pipe provided near the surface and in the interior of the tools. |
