The present invention relates to a lateral protection device for long road-going vehicles, particularly for semitrailers. Device characterised in that it essentially consists of at least one strap (1) stretched in the space lying between the axle (1) of the semitrailer (3) or the rear axle of a road-going motor vehicle or of a trailer, and the jack (prop) (4) of the semitrailer (3) or the front axle of a road-going motor vehicle or of a trailer and by at least one means (5) for fastening one end of the strap (1) and at least one means (6) for tensioning the said strap (1). <IMAGE>
