PURPOSE:To eliminate the trace of diazo by developing an image by means of aqueous alkaline developer after the image is exposed to a sensitive layer containing co-condensing diazo resin including an aromatic compound and a specific aromatic diazonium compound. CONSTITUTION:A sensitive layer includes a co-condensing diazo resin containing an aromatic compound having at least one of a carboxyl group and a hydroxyl group, and an aromatic diazonium compound shown by the expression I respectively as a constitutional unit. An image is exposed to the aforesaid sensitive layer and, then, developed by means of aqueous alkaline developer substantially not containing an organic solvent. In this case, R<1> in the expression I stands for the alkyl group, hydroxyl group or the like that may contain a hydrogen atom and a substituent, R<2> for a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a alkoxyl group, R<3> for a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or alkoxyl group, and R<4> and R<5> respectively for a hydrogen atom and an alkyl group. Also, Y shows -NH-, -O- or -S-. According to the aforesaid process, no contamination occurs, and a good printing plate can be obtained. |
