<p>According to this method and this device, a signal is picked up which represents the voltage at the terminals of the arc, the signal is forwarded simultaneously into two band-pass filters (6, 7) which have, respectively, a wide high-frequency band (6) excluding the DC component and a wide band (7) including the DC component, the signals coming from the filters (6, 7) are sent to effective-value extractors (8, 9), an energy signal, proportional to the ratio of the effective value of the signal coming from the wide-band filter (6) excluding the DC component to the effective value of the signal coming from the wide-band filter (7) including the DC component, is generated by means of a divider module (11), and the proportional energy signal, obtained on a scale (12) where it is expressed as a percentage, is displayed, this percentage being indicative of the stability of the arc, significant of the smelting phase. The signal supplied by the display member (12) enables the furnace to be adjusted in real time by the control operator. <IMAGE></p> |
