PURPOSE:To detect an ink jet ejection axis by test-running an ink jet with a rotary drum and a carriage stopped at a home position, then allowing the ink jet to become deflected in a continuously changing manner, and detecting an electric charge carried by the ink jet passing through a knife edge. CONSTITUTION:A carriage with a nozzle 1 mounted is set and stopped at a home position during the adjustment of an ink jet axis. Next MPU outputs sequentially controlled voltage command data D1 to Dm whose value increases stepwise to a D/A converter DAC and at the same time, checks the reversal of an output from a rectangular wave generator SWG. If the reversal of an output from the rectangular wave generator SWG is detected using the controlled voltage command data Dk, a control voltage phik at which the ink jet is cut by the tip of a knife edge 5 is detected by the controlled voltage command data Dk. MPU detects the relative position relationship of an ink jet axis with the knife edge 5 quantitatively. |
