PURPOSE:To obtain a proper reproduction picture pattern by differentiating an amplitude change state of a pilot signal of a recording video signal formed based on a video signal from which a reproduction picture pattern with a 1st aspect ratio is obtained from that formed based on a video signal from which a reproduction picture pattern with a 2nd aspect ratio is obtained. CONSTITUTION:A signal synthesis section 23 applies frequency multiplex synthesis to an FM luminance signal Yf whose aspect ratio is 4:3, a low frequency conversion chrominance signal Cc, 1st FM audio signal Af and recording pilot signals P1'-P4' to form a synthesized recording Sm whose aspect ratio is 4:3. Similarly a synthesized recording Sm' whose aspect ratio is 16:9 is formed. When a reproduced picture pattern is obtained, a 1st luminance signal Y1, a chrominance carrier signal C1, and an audio signal AU1 to form a video signal whose aspect ratio is 4:3 are used from a magnetic tape on which the Sm or Sm' is recorded by a magnetic recorder. Moreover, a 2nd luminance signal Y2, a chrominance carrier signal C2, and an audio signal AU2 to form a video signal whose aspect ratio is 16:9 are used. |
