PURPOSE:To correctly judge the gear position from only the speed and the number of revolution of an engine even in deceleration by measuring the average value of the time variation quantity of the gear ratio obtained from the number of revolution of the engine and the speed and judging the gear position from the fact that the absolute value of the above described average value is over a threshold value or not. CONSTITUTION:A speed detecting means 10, engine revolution speed detecting means 20, and an intake pressure detecting means 40 are provided, and the average value of the time variation quantity of the gear ratio which is obtained from the number of revolution of an engine and the car speed, is measured by a control means 30, and the gear position is judged from the fact that the absolute value of this average value is over a threshold value or more, and the result is displayed by a display means 60. Accordingly, the gear position can be judged from the data of only the speed and the number of revolution of the engine, and the device can be installed in simple manner on a variety of transmission vehicles. |
