PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition which has a low melting point, is crystalline and can give a fiber which is free from the problem of fusion among single fibers by mixing a polyester with inorganic inert particles to form a product having a specified melting point, a specified cooling crystallization peak temperature and a specified heat of crystallization in cooling. CONSTITUTION:A linear aliphatic dicarboxylic acid component is esterified or transesterified with an aliphatic diol component, and the product is polycondensed at 220-280 deg.C in a vacuum of 0.01-10Torr in the presence of a catalyst to obtain a polyester (A) mainly consisting of structural units of the formula (wherein m is 10-20; and n is 2-4) and having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5 or above. This polyester is mixed with 0.01-3.0wt.% inorganic inert particles (e.g. talc) as a nucleator to obtain the title composition having a melting point of 80-100 deg.C, a cooling crystallization peak temperature of 60 deg.C and a heat of crystallization in cooling of 70mJ/mg or above when they are measured by differential scanning calorimetry. |
