The office chair has a rotatable height adjustable seat support (14) for a two-part seat whose rear part (22) is fixedly coupled to the backrest, the front part (21) is mounted on the seat support to swivel about a horizontal axis (16) at the front. There is an additional coupling between the front and rear seat parts (21, 22) using a lever rod comprisng at least a first and second guide rod (24, 25) which are connected together for articulated movement at one end whilst the other end of the first rod (24) is attached to the seat support (14) and the other end of the second rod (25) is connected to the rear seat part (22) or backrest (23). The first rod is coupled between its ends by a coupling lever to the first seat part whereby the articulated connecting point is adjustable. The spring force is exerted by at least one pressure or torsion spring (34, 35) which engages on the seat support on one side and on the lever on the other. The coupling lever is preferably rigidly connected to the first seat part. USE/ADVANTAGE - The ratio between the inclines of the backrest and seat can be more accurately fixed.
