<p>The mechanical properties of solid granular catalysts which include a catalytically active compound and a silicon-containing inert carrier, are improved by coating the catalysts with a glassy film of an alkali metal silicate. The method is particularly useful with catalysts which contain phosphoric acids as the active component and which are used in the polymerisation and alkylation of alkenes. The preparation of such catalysts is described in Netherlands Patent 67,09593.</p> |
