The roller or clamp freewheel module, has a fixed inner ring (13) and a rotary outer ring (11) with rollers or clamps fitted between them. The rollers or clamps (26) are mounted between an outer (24) and an inner cage (25). These two cages are fastened to each other by support rings (14,15) with a U-shaped cross-section. The outer shanks (18,19) of the two support rings are bent radially inwards at their edges (22,23) and engage lips (27,28) formed on each side of the outer cage. The inner shanks (20,21) of each support ring fits in the bore of the inner cage, and locking rings (16,17) fitted inside the U-sections abut against the side faces of the cages.
