The chemically-resistant waterproof coating comprises a continuous layer of plastics (9). The layer of plastics is contained in a trough (3) either side of an expansion joint, while the trough is filled with hardening material forming a seam (10) extending above the arched position. Covering material (11), extending nearly to the seam, is joined to the layer at the trough edges, forming one piece.
