The letter punch has a bottom part with dies, also flanges for the hinging pressure member actuating the punch tools in opposition to coil springs. Parallel to the hinge axis (32) of the member (3) is a pendulum-mounted pressure rail bearing against the member at the top, with two thrust pins (52) on its bottom edge (53), pivoting by their pointed tips in cup-shaped recesses (71) in the tops (7) of the punch tools.
