Control system for strand withdrawal in continuous coating plant - using individual transport roll driven by DC motor and thyristor control coupled to computer with continuous measurement of motor armature current

System comprises individual transport roll drives by DC motors and thyristor control coupled to a process computer. Armature current in each motor is measured and compared with the threshold values for idling and operating modes. Pref. drive motor armature currents are continuously monitored and compared with assigned threshold values to control strand withdrawal force and speed and indicate fault conditions.
