Monolithic refractory lining for an Al melting furnace consists of 40-100% Al2O3; 0-60 SiO2 and 0-3% CaO. The fired coating has a max. thermal expansion coefficient of 7 x 10 power-6/deg.C. The lining contains approx. 58% Al2O3; 35 SiO2; 2.5 CaO and max. 0.8% Fe2O3. The lining is produced by positioning a mould part inside the furnace at a specific distance from the wall and then filling the space between wall and moulding with stampable or castable lining material. After removing the mould the lining is dried and fired. ADVANTAGE - By avoiding refractory bricks, no joints are present in the lining which could lead to lining damage and pore quality in the Al melt.
