Working fluid for absorption heat pumps operating at very high temperature, especially from 200 DEG C to 1000 DEG C, the said working fluid being a mixture of at least two constituents, characterised in that the working fluid consists of a mixture of at least two simple chemical elements, the first of which, called "solvent", is much more volatile than the others, called "solutes", at the temperature of the mixture, the nature and the proportions of each of the simple chemical elements in the mixture being chosen so that the vapour pressure of the mixture is markedly lower than that of the most volatile first chemical element alone throughout the operating cycle of the working fluid in the pump. These chemical elements may be especially metals such as mercury or sodium, or metalloids such as sulphur.

|
