A silencer for a combustion engine has a housing, through which the exahust gases are fed from a discharge knee to an end pipe (5). The silencer unit (1) has at least three chambers (9, 10, 11). The first chambe (9) is a pre-chamber, from which a pipe (19) leads to the following chamber (10), and two further pipe connections (17, 18) lead to the final chamber.
