PURPOSE:To eliminate fill-in of a print head before printing starts by providing a delivery restoration device of a print head, a white plate for test printing, a reading device for test printing, a white plate cleaning member for removing test printing, and a means for finding out a non-delivery nozzle using test printing data. CONSTITUTION:When a carriage 2 is located at a home position prior to the start of printing and a sucking cap 11 has returned to an actuating position, a delivery restoration action is carried out for a print head 3 by means of a suction pump so that the cap 11 returns to a waiting position. The head 5 moves to the position of a white plate 14 for test printing to effect test printing, following which the head 3 further moves and a reading device 15 reads the test print and then said test print is removed by a cleaning pad 16. Whether or not a read pattern is equal to a test pattern is judged and when a nor- delivery nozzle is found, delivery restoration action is carried out again. Such a series of action are repeated until there is no longer any non-delivery nozzle to atart normal printing operation. |
