Insertable, tissue-compatible medical devices, which yield bactericidal and/or microbicidal metal ions in contact with body fluids, consist of a polyurethane material (I) and a substance (II) yielding metal ions. (I) is a polyurethane elastomer with less than 50 (wt.)% organosilicone polymer of mol. wt. 500-10000 in the main chain, opt. plasticising polyether or polyester segments and chain extenders to give thermoplastic properties or chain extenders and/or crosslinkers to give thermosetting properties, as required. 1-15% (II) is incorporated uniformly over the entire surface of (I). (I) is prepd. by allowing the polyol, organosilicone polymer, isocyanate and opt. chain extender and/or crosslinker to react and moulding, with addn. of 1-15% (II) in the form of a powder with a particle size of max. 50 microns or an aq. 1-15% soln. before adding the isocyanate.
