1,192,694. Locking bolts. H. O. DOHMEIER. 8 March, 1968 [8 March, 1967], No. 11327/68. Heading F2H. A rod anchoring metal plate 1 comprises a centrally perforated portion 2 in which the central perforation 3 has a wall shaped to lock on to a rod upon deformation of the portion 2, the plate 1 being dished and provided with ribs 7 projecting from the convex surface of the plate. The plate 1 may have radially extending limbs 8 having bent-over extremities 9 and the perforation 3 may have a serrated or threaded wall which may be separated into portions by radial slots 5 terminating in holes 6. In use with a roof bolt 10 having an anchoring unit 12 and arranged within a hole 11 of a mine roof, the plate 1 is arranged so that the perforation 3 receives an extending portion of the shank 13 of the bolt 10, the perforation 3 being caused to grip the shank 13 when the bolt is subjected to tension by a tensioning device which simultaneously deforms the plate, the plate maintaining the bolt in tension when the tensioning device is removed.
