Cups arriving from the glazing machine standing on their rims, are gripped on both sides in a line below their centre of gravity. Two clamping jaws which pivot round this line, lift and lower together for gripping, raising lowering and releasing each cup. When lifted, the cup pivots automatically into its stable position and can then be lowered onto the moving belt. Soft jaws are used pivoted on opposed ends of the piston rods of two coaxially mounted clamping cylinders which are operated pneumatically or hydraulically for this purpose. To lift and lower the cups, the cylinders are carried on the ends of a pivoted lever and this is pivoted by another ram provided. Handling is less severe than with suction heads, and the cups can pivot freely and resiliently thus minimising damage.
|
