PRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN BY UTILIZATION OF MICROORGANISM

PURPOSE:To enable production of hydrogen simultaneously with treatment of a waste water by culturing a hydrogen-producing bacterium using a polysaccharide containing glucose units as a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen-producing bacterium (preferably anaerobic bacterium having hydrogen productivity and more preferably white ant-derived anaerobic bacterium) is cultured using, as a substrate, a polysaccharide (preferably starch) containing glucose units as the constituent component, thus producing hydrogen gas.
