<p>An enzymatic assay composition for ethanol determination is provided comprising (a) enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase; (b) coenzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide; and (c) a compound of the formula H2N-(CH2)n-CHR-CH2-NH2 I where R is H, CH3, or OH; and n is 0, 1, 2 , 3 or 4 with the proviso that when R is OH, n cannot be 0. Compound I acts as a buffer and a trapping agent for a product of the enzymatic reaction. Long stability of the assay composition is achieved.</p> |
