Prodn. of free-flowing granular alkaline detergent compsns. is effected by mixing the metasilicate (I) with a pentasodium triphosphate (STP) and/or finely crystalline zeolite NaA builder and opt. other additives, compacting the mixt. between rollers under high pressure, and comminuting the prod. to the required particle size. The improvement comprises pre-agglomerating at least two of the ingredients together.
