The web cooler between simulatanoulsy cast cylinders acts in the section of a cover plate of the cylinder block of an IC engine. It has a cooling water jacket on either side of the cylinder row, and branching cooling ducts opening into a collector trough. There are two passages between the cooling water jacket and cooling water chamber in the cylinder head, which is connected to the block via gasket. The web (5) has a shallow slot (15) which opens into the collector trough (8) and into the first duct (12). which extends from the first jacket (3). The narrow duct section (12b) downstream from the slot, has a considerably smaller flow profile then the second duct (13), connected to the collector trough.
