PURPOSE:To prevent droplets from deteriorating due to oxidation by constituting a droplet reservoir for supplying droplets by heating and melting the droplets which are in a solid state at a room temperature in such a manner that the droplets of ink are cut off from the outside air by absorbing changes of capacity. CONSTITUTION:At recording, an ink 9 in a solid state in a receptacle 6 is heated by a heater to be housed in a droplet reservoir 2 of a record head 1 and melted. The ink 9 itself undergoes a thermal expansion and the capacity thereof increases. At the same time, an inert gas 8 in a cavity 7 also undergoes the thermal expansion and the capacity thereof increases. These increased parts of the capacities are absorbed by expanding an air bag 5 so that an ink pressure is restrained from rising. When the temperature of the record head 1 decreases at non-recording, the air bag 5 contracts with the decrease of the capacity of the droplet reservoir 2 so that the rise of the pressure is absorbed as well and the decrease of the ink pressure is prevented. On the other hand, as the cavity 7 in the droplet reservoir 2 is filled with the inert gas 8, the inert gas 8 cuts off the outside air so as not to expose the level of the ink 9 to the outside air. Thus, oxidation reaction of the ink droplets which are melted by heating in the droplet reservoir is restrained and recording property and reliability can be improved. |
