<p>PURPOSE:To enable compression processing at a high speed in a simple circuitry by turning a processing preparing the series of quantization coefficients from a coefficient matrix and a processing encoding the series of this quantization coefficient to a processing to be completed by one block. CONSTITUTION:The performance of a quantization means 121, a conversion means 131, and an addition means 151 prepares the quantization coefficient composed of the combination of continuous lengths between an effective coefficient and an invalid coefficient while quantizing the coefficient matrix obtained by an orthogonal transformation means 111 in the prescribed order, and is completed by one block by adding an end signal to be outputted to the series of this quantization coefficient by a generation means 141. An instruction means 171 recognizes the tail of the series of the quantization coefficient by one block while detecting the end signal contained in the series of the quantization coefficient by one block. Thus, the picture data can be compressed at a high speed via simple circuitry.</p> |
