In a pot spinning device a full cake 12 is removed from the pot by an expansible cake holder 13 (see also Fig. 1 not shown) which is rotatable mounted on a vertically movable support 14. When the cake is nearly filled the pot is slowed and support 14 is lifted by a pneumatic device 24, 28, so that the cake holder moves into the pot and a clutch surface 16a thereon engages a clutch surface 1a in the pot so that the cake holder is rotated. A resilient, spirally wound sheet 17 mounted on the spool holder expands centrifugally to engage the inside of the cake. In addition a resilient, air tight sleeve 18 is connected to the air supply to be expanded and engage the inside of sheet 17. When the pot stops the support 14 and the cake holder 13 are lowered to remove the cake from the pot. The support 14 is rotated about a vertical axis to move the full cake to an unwinding position and an empty cake holder to a position beneath the pot, the sleeve 18 on the empty holder being deflated during the rotation. |
