1,147,106. Oxy alkylated methylene dianilines. UPJOHN CO. 16 May, 1967 [20 June, 1966], No. 22705/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Polyol adducts are prepared by reacting under hydroxyalkylation conditions 1À8 to 20 molecular equivalents of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or 1,2-butylene oxide, or a mixture of two or more thereof, and one amine equivalent of a polyamine mixture, 100 parts of the polyamine mixture containing 45 to 70 parts of methylenedianilines, the remaining parts being triamines and polyamines of higher molecular weight, the polyamine mixture having been formed by acid condensation of aniline and formaldehyde. The hydroxyalkylation usually takes place in the presence of catalysts such as alkali metals and alkali metal hydroxides Numerous examples are specified in which various polyamine mixtures are reacted with varying quantities of the specified alkylene oxides. The resulting adducts may be mixed with a polyol of functionality 2 to 6 and equivalent weight 30 to 90 and the resulting mixture used in the preparation of polyurethane foams (see Division C3). |
