PURPOSE:To obtain a metallic catalyst carrier in which contact area of a corrugated plate and a flat plate is firmly fixed by subjecting a temporary carrier in a pressed state to primary heating and secondary heating to form a lumpy first oxide layer and a net-like second oxide layer. CONSTITUTION:A metal corrugated plate 31 and a flat plate 33 are laminated and wound in turns to form a cylindrical body 35, which is then pressed to form a temporary carrier 37 having an oval cross section. Then this temporary carrier 37 as pressed inwardly from the outside is subjected to primary heating at rather low temp. condition (600-900 deg.C) for the temp. condition for depositing, oxides, so that the primary oxide 41 is produced on the plate 31 and the plate 33. Then this carrier 37 is heated at temp. (>=1000 deg.C) higher than the primary heating temp. for a specified time to join the contact part 45 between the plate 31 and plate 33. By this method, fixing strength between the corrugated plate and flat plate can be largely improved with a simple constitution compared to a conventional catalyst carrier. |
