The invention relates to a device (1) for depositing a substantially fluid material (2) in a given zone (3) located in line with the lateral surface (4) of rails (5), which device conventionally comprises - on the one hand, at least one member (9) for depositing the material in line with the lateral surface (4) in question of the rail (5) and, - on the other hand, a means (10) for metering and injecting a predetermined amount of material into at least one pipe (11) connected to the depositing member (9). It is characterised in that: - on the one hand, the device (1) comprises a plurality of members (9) for pointwise depositing of a predetermined amount of material in line with the surface (4) in question of the rail (5) and, - on the other hand, these members (9) are distributed at given intervals along a length of rail (5) which is at least equal to the value of the development of the antagonistic rolling surface (6) of the largest diameter wheel (7) which is to run on this rail (5).
