The assembly has a structure comprising end adaptors, linkage tubes for the adaptors and cross-bracing grids defining cells for receiving fuel rods. The guide tubes (14a, 14b) are fixed to one of the adaptors (10) and are individually connected to the other adaptor (12) by an elastic linkage tending to hold the end of each guide tube in a predetermined position with respect to the said other adaptor, and intermediate crossbracing grids for the rods are mounted floating on some of the guide tubes (14a, 14b) and fitted with cross-braces (spacers) (44a, 44b) limiting the displacement of each of these grids with respect to the grids which frame them. <IMAGE>
