Conveyor belt press filter for sludge - with high pressure zone using armour belt with individually biassed sections

Sludge is dewatered in a chamber-type filter press which includes filter chambers advanced continuously in the manner of a belt filter press. They are continuously charged and discharged and the filter chambers are closed on their top and bottom sides by filter bands supported on revolving carrier belts with seals along their sides. They are sealed at their front and rear by the sludge. A high pressure is applied to the sludge by coadvancing pressure producers which over at least a portion of the belt run apply an increasingly high pressure to the sludge. Appts. is used in a waste water purificn. plant. It combines the advantages of a chamber-type filter press with those of a filter belt press.
