<p>PURPOSE:To prevent psychological fatigue due to intentional steering of a small angle by a driver by increasing steering force when a dark external environment is detected through an external darkness detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A steering force characteristic setting circuit 4 selects one characteristic out of, for example, three steering force characteristics according to vehicle speed input from a vehicle speed sensor 1, darkness of external environment input from an external darkness detecting means 2, and time input from a clock. A driver circuit 5 controls a variable flow means 104 so as to make steering force into the characteristic selected by the steering force characteristic setting circuit 4. When the characteristic of steering force in the daytime is set as A, the characteristic B in the twilight or dawn is set as the characteristic which the vehicle speed in A is converted to 1.5 times of actual vehicle speed, and the characteristic C at night is set as the characteristic which the vehicle speed in A is converted to 2 times of an actual vehicle speed.</p> |
