The device (1) for cooking food with steam inside a microwave oven (2) comprises an enclosure divided into two compartments (3, 6). A first compartment (3) has walls which are permeable to microwaves and is intended to receive water (10). The second compartment (6) is impermeable to microwaves and is intended to receive the food to be cooked (8), these two compartments (3, 6) being separated by a wall (4) which is impermeable to microwaves but permeable to water vapour. Use for making possible cooking in a microwave oven of certain foods which are impossible or difficult to cook in such an oven. <IMAGE>
