Road surface trough structure - has drainage system in and below caps at expansion joint seam strips

The trough structure, particularly of concrete or with grooved supporting walls, is for road surfaces. It comprises a soleplate supporting the latter and on which sealing material is laid, caps at the sides of the road, and expansion joints at regular intervals accommodating seam strips. A drainage system is provided at the strips (18), in and below the caps. This can slope downwards to the next water outlet, and can comprise spiral tubes (21) of 10 mm. diameter or more. Alternatively a drainage layer can be used. ADVANTAGE - Reduces road surface damage caused by water penetration.
