摘要
Sepn. of H2SO4 and NHO3 from dinitrotoluene (DNT) produced by nitrating toluene with H2SO4/HNO3 is effected by (a) separating most of the H2SO4 and NHO3 from a DNT phase contg. up to H2SO4 and up to 5 wt. % HNO3; (b) mixing the DNT phase with up to 10 wt. % H2O; and (c) separating the aq. phase. The DNT phase is pref. mixed with 0.3-8 wt. % H2O at 65-90 deg. C. Alternatively, the acids may be sepd. in two stages by mixing the DNT phase with 0.3-3 wt. % H2O, separating the H2SO4-rich aq. phase, mixing the DNT phase with 2-6 wt. % H2O, and separating the HNO3-rich aq. phase.
