The drive shaft having two relatively movable parts (11,12) e.g. connected by a sliding spline assembly, has sheet metal elements (18,19) provided on the two parts for connection by securing wire to prevent the shaft parts moving relative to one another in transport or storage. The elements also constitute balancing weights for the shaft.
